MVT March Meeting…...…………16th March 2011. 2045

The meeting got off to a late start as our leader struggled with the technology to try and get the computer video show to work; it would seem that we will watch it next month........

Apologies:

Len, Paul, Shane, Jenny, bits of Clive*, Alec, Ian, Mel.

Last Months Minutes:

Approved and circulated. Seems like we’re getting the email list into something like working order (after months of not getting them at all, Baz got last month’s minutes twice!)

Matters Arising:

The Humber pig in last months minutes went to a lucky soul in Exeter, we hope to get some progress reports in the future. Every so often Rod may send out emails about stuff in the club area so as to give members the heads up on what going on.

Forthcoming Events:

The events calendar is filling nicely (thanks to Rob) - copy attached - but here are some late additions;

·         24/03/11   Babbacombe (Torquay) Festival Meeting, to plan this year’s event. Ring Rod for details.

·         02/04/11   Plympton Militaria sale www.plmptonauctions.co.uk – may be items of interest for sale, plus vehicles wanted for ‘window dressing’ the event – see copy email below (RK).

·         05/08/11  Coverack family activity day. Cornwall Area Sec for details.

·         21/08/11  Land Rover & 4X4 auto jumble, Kingsteignton - see attached email & flyer.

Club road-run & Sunday lunch: (action needed)

Our next do is on National Drive it Day, 17th April – a road-run and (for those as wants it) a Sunday roast at the Welcome Stranger. We’ll meet at the pub (Club meeting house) at 11:00 for morning coffee, set off for a quick trip over the Moors to Hay-Tor and return to the Pub for lunch. We need to know numbers for the meal – 15 of us signed up so far, but Petra will want an idea of how many to cook for. If you’re up for it, please let Rod know by Friday 8th April so he can warn the pub.

Cobbaton 30th Bash, all is going well, BUT please ring Preston or Tim, it is important that there is some idea of numbers.

Buckfastleigh and Drogo, Rod & Jenny have had meetings with both sets of managements, things progressing ok, but remember, both of these shows are “hands on” so any ideas to put in the melting pot please say so, its all about entertaining Joe Public at the end of the day,

 A.O.B.

·         The Cub had an email requesting a Vehicle for a wedding, it is in Taunton, so Wessex Area should be able to sort that one,

·         A new source of Jeep stencils has surfaced; Rod has details if you’ve found a few square inches of olive that aren’t currently covered in markings,

·         Normandy Bed & Breakfast gite; details of a new one have been sent to Rod.

·         Elf’n’safety; Rod has been on a one day Health & Safety course, he now knows how to fall off a ladder safely and loads of other common sense things that us mere mortals are unable to do alone, and to watch the watcher. Rod would welcome a second, so if you would all like to rush forward to put your names down, you to can learn how to keep me safe (at the Club’s expense), but at the end of the day we can feel secure that our leader can lead us boldly into the future,

Club Matters:

The next club meeting will be 20th April 2011.

Meeting closed at 2145, (and still a blank video screen). Still, Rod had devised a fiendish quiz during a particularly dull conference call which kept people amused for a few minutes and was won handsomely by Clive Runnalls. And Clive Cook* had dropped in to organise the usual monthly raffle (for which much thanks), even though he wasn’t able to stay for the full meeting. A real trooper....

Copy of Plympton email mentioned above. If you’re not interested, you can stop reading now....
