Recent events
Christmas Dinner. As usual, held at the Welcome, and up to the high standard that we have got used to; some familiar faces missing, but a smashing evening in good company, and the battle of the party poppers seems to have become an after dinner tradition, with some people, would you believe, cheating, bringing in heavy artillery! Others learnt to their cost that you buy Pound Shop poppers at your peril………………………
Forthcoming Events
1) Stoneleigh, 30th Jan -
Timing; 06.00 Buckfastleigh (Woodhomle car park)
06.45 Jct 27,
07.00
31 signed up in total, and a 33 seater coach booked (at £15 each). For those who haven’t been before, there is fast food on site, some prefer a pack lunch. Departure time from Stoneleigh will be sorted on the way up. Happy buying.
2) Drive it Day, 17th April,
Yet to sort out a route for this event, so in the next few weeks any ideas, please bring up at the next meeting………………
3) Cobbaton Combat 30 year bash, Bank
This should be a good one. Saturday, investigating the possibility of an invitation only convoy to the Burrows, and then to Woolacombe; if this comes together, vehicle numbers will necessarily be strictly limited. More info to follow. Sunday and Monday, 'Open house' military bring and buy sale, Preston and the Gang always do the club proud, with plenty to do and see, or just sit around and play catch-up and relax,
4) Paignton & Dartmouth (Steamship Co) Railway, 28th 29th May,
more details to follow, they have booked a Spitfire and a Sherman tank, update from Mike Ford at the next meeting
5) Buckfastleigh 9th 10th July
Entry forms (H & S requirement) are nearly ready, will be available online (I think) and at meetings. Any fresh ideas and offers to help please contact Rod or Jenny .
6) February Meeting,
We hope to use the back room for this, show and tell (so bring something interesting along). Rod has got his hands on a heater, but with that in mind, don’t forget a big coat, just in case
2011 Events calendar
Now available from Rob Miller, but other than the meetings nothing booked for February and March.
Windscreen
Ian Wright has forwarded an article for the next mag. The closing date is January 30th so there is still time.
There was a nice picture of Mel’s Landy in the last one, it all gives the area a bit of profile.
Hampers (comments added by Rod)
Both our Veterans were anxious to pass on their thanks to the club for the Christmas hampers they received. Thanks to a very generous discount kindly contributed by the local Co-op, the goodly sum that had been donated by local MVT members towards the cost of these was stretched even further and Colin was able to put together two cracking hampers, each tailored carefully to the individuals concerned. I think it's great that we're able to make this small gesture towards a couple of the people who represent a generation who did so much for us, so thanks Colin for undertaking this valuable work on our behalf.
Meeting closed at 2145, followed by the draw - well done Clive C, good draw, I really liked my Roses!
