The Buckfastleigh Military Vehicle Show 2007 |
Just under 100 vehicles (not including pushbikes and trailers) turned up to the 2007 show, coming from all over England, Wales, France and Holland. Aswell as several Living History groups putting on some very nice displays. As usual there was free camping on site from the preceding Wednesday right through to the following Tuesday. The field kitchen was in full swing providing almost 200 Full English breakfasts per day (Saturday and Sunday), plus some evening meals and coffee and doughnuts during the day.
Various convoys were going out and about the local area for those who wished to take their vehicles for a run during the day, and on the Saturday evening the "run across the moor" to Widecombe was very well attended with close to 50 vehicles making up the convoy.
We had our own military train made up, which we furnished with a set of Quad .50cals, and a group of soldiers for a run down the line to Staverton station. There were also free rides on the passenger trains for anyone in uniform or period dress.
