MINUTES FOR February 2011..

Meeting opened at 2030………..

After the diners had taken their repast, the meeting moved to the back room, not the warmest of places, so we sat in a huddle (which for some reason became known as the fairy ring) around the heater, and our Leader held court from the centre.

  APOLOGIES……………..

Peter, Len. Paul H, Shane L, Clive C, Mel, Ian,

Last Months Meeting

Minutes had been produced, approved and circulated.

Recent Events

The Stoneleigh Trip, A very well done to Shane Lock for sorting the coach and timings out, the whole day was successful with most people coming away with something . For next years trip, we will look at ways to expand to a bigger (and more comfortable) coach.

Forthcoming Events

Nothing booked for February and March, except Malvern, and most of the regulars to the venue make their own way. Next do is our annual road run (National Drive it day).  This year the plan is to start at the Welcome (Club venue) and finish back there, Colin somehow was conned into working route out, so more details next month, it will be either a Moorland run, or round one of the local towns, what ever it will be a chance for the Don R’s to get some practice in.

l                   Cobbaton Combat Birthday Bash, Bank Holiday Weekend - Sunday 1st May; this is moving on apace, with Preston announcing a big clear-out and militaria market, open to everyone, with sellers' pitches at just £5 for the day and free entry for the public. On the Saturday there is the opportunity for a limited convoy of strictly Wartime vehicles - particularly American ones - to take part in a run to Braunton Burrows and Woolacombe in memory of the American troops who trained there. This has to be an invitation-only event and vehicle types and numbers are limited as the site is privately owned. An entry form and details available from Preston or Tim at the Cobbaton Combat Collection, phone 01769 540740, Saturday Evening will be BBQ time, again contact the Museum.

 A O B.

Buckfastliegh, things moving on here, entry forms will be available soon, keep an eye on the Devon Web Page, Rob will now be looking after the publicity, and the price for the all important field kitchen breakfast is set at £1.50, more details next meeting, I think we are still looking for someone to be convoy master, ideally someone with local knowledge,

                                                    Meeting Closed at 2145………………..

We then had a show an tell, with some people bringing in some interesting stuff, we will try it again later in the year, so remember what you see every day in your collection maybe new to someone else, next month (if it warm in the room) Preston will bring along a DVD on the burrows  wartime history.
